Trader Joe’s Is a Hidden Haven of Wellness Finds—These Are Our Top Picks

At the unlikely possibility that you don’t visit Trader Joe’s multiple times a week (like I proudly/shamefully/compulsively do), I’ll fill you in with some news: the popular retailer isn’t just a grocery store—nor is it simply a crucial part of your seasonal entertainment. It’s a treasure trove for all the best health and wellness products, too. Across all of our favorite food categories—snacks, bevvies, dairy and gluten alternatives, and immunity-boosting shots—Trader Joe’s delivers. And bonus: when you’re shopping on a budget, TJ’s should be your go-to.

It comes as a surprise to exactly no one that eating healthy and finding inflation-proof deals can be challenging. While you don’t always have to splurge on organic and there are other strategies for cutting healthy corners, I personally find that Trader Joe’s comes in clutch when I’m in need of groceries that support my wellness goals, come in under budget, and indulge my cravings for a snack or meal that’s consistently delicious without fail. (So, always.)

The Best Healthy Trader Joe’s Products

In the spirit of streamlining your Sunday shopping trip and helping you sift through Trader Joe’s many amazing products, I took it upon myself to do the good (and fun) work of sampling all of the best wellness-supporting picks. Below, you’ll find the result of my research—and all of my favorite healthy Trader Joe’s finds.

But before you get to it, I’ll admit… there’s a lot of cauliflower going on with the products below. Instead of writing off the gluten alternative as passé, take heart: we can always trust Trader Joe’s to be on top of food trends—and to make those that may seem out of date interesting again. I’ll get into the details below, but trust: each of the following products check my all-important boxes of being 1. tasty (re: addictive); 2. budget-friendly; and 3. supportive of all your 2024 wellness goals.

So get your shopping lists ready, these are my top healthy Trader Joe’s picks.

Note: All prices reflect pricing at my local Trader Joe’s in Chicago and may vary depending on location.

Trader Joe's Cauliflower Slims

Cauliflower Slims: $3.99

*Previously Cauliflower Thins* When it came to selecting a gluten-free wrap alternative, these won out against the also-popular Jicama Wraps. Nothing against jicama, of course, (we love it in our tacos, sliced thinly into matchsticks), but I was definitely swayed by the clearly-visible fluffiness of these “delicious and versatile” bread alternatives. Compared to other cauliflower/bread hybrids, these actually contain a significant amount of cauliflower—comprising over 60% of the ingredients.

Add to that only eggs, parm, cheese, salt, and yeast, and you have a clean option that’ll happily hold all of your favorite sandwich ingredients. And if you’re tempted to eat these on their own, you’re not alone—I’ve been known to tear into them between the hours of 3 and 4 p.m.

Trader Joe's Peppermint Herbal Tea

Peppermint Herbal Tea: $2.99

Spend a few minutes in the depths of wellness content on Instagram or TikTok and you’re bound to see any number of creators indulging in a warm mug of peppermint tea. Known to support digestion, relieve cold and flu symptoms, and provide a healthy dose of antioxidants, the soothing bevvy makes for a functional routine as well. I love a bag steeped for a few minutes on its own, but you’re welcome to drizzle in a little honey or add any sweetener of your choice. It’s my favorite post-dinner ritual.

Pineapple Probiotic Juice Shot

Pineapple Probiotic Juice Shot: $1.99

Would it be a roundup of the best healthy Trader Joe’s products if I didn’t include a juice shot? While $1.99 can seem pricey for a two-ounce bottle, this shot is proof that good things come in small packages. 2024 is all about quality over quantity, y’all—and this TJ’s fave packs plenty of wellness-boosting goodness. Each bottle contains the juice of 1/5 coconut, a wedge of pineapple, some lemon, and a slice of ginger. What’s more, the shot provides 1 billion CFU (colony forming units) of the probiotic strain Bacillus coagulans, which is known to aid in digestion.

Beyond technicalities, this juice shot tastes good. While others boast a flavor profile that’s turmeric- or ginger-dominant, the pineapple helps make this probiotic supplement a healthy habit you’ll look forward to.

Sparkling Elderberry + Pomegranate Apple Cider Vinegar Beverage

Sparkling Elderberry + Pomegranate Apple Cider Vinegar Beverage: $1.69

Admittedly, this is one of the few products of my healthy haul that I hadn’t tried before, but when I saw it sitting among the kombucha and juices, I knew I needed to pick it up. We’ve written before about apple cider vinegar being one of the best immunity boosters. And because I’m among (the many) who can’t handle a straight shot of ACV in the morning—or even enjoy it diluted with water—this incredible elderberry-pomegranate concoction comes as a delicious alternative. It’s one that I’ll happily sip on every day.

Creamy Cashew Cultured Yogurt Alternative

Creamy Cashew Cultured Yogurt Alternative: $4.99

Tell me if this resonates: I swap between smoothies and oatmeal for breakfast on a whim… after eating each for weeks straight. I’m not sure if it’s neurotic, but I can—and will—eat my oats for breakfast 15 days in a row. (Creatures of habit, raise your hands.) All that being said, I will happily swap in a yogurt bowl here and there. Because a fruit plus a grain plus a protein equals early-morning happiness. But because all hot girls deal with digestive issues from time to time, I also opt for dairy-free alternatives when I want to satiate a yogurt craving.

Trader Joe’s—once again—delivers. The ingredients list boasts plenty of gut-supporting live cultures and this yogurt manages to clock in four grams of protein. For the dairy-free among us, this is a solid choice.

Dark Chocolate Sunflower Seed Butter Cups

Dark Chocolate Sunflower Seed Butter Cups: $3.49

IYKYK—Trader Joe’s is my happy place when the inevitable sweets craving strikes. And while the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups are a go-to, this peanut-free pick is a must. Because I’m down to try anything (for *research*), these sunflower seed butter cups made their way into my cart. Spoiler: I’m grateful they did. They retain all the sweet-and-salty creaminess of their PB counterparts, and thanks to their snack-size packaging, just a few make the perfect anytime snack.

Chomps Sticks

Chomps Sticks: $1.99

The majority of what you’ll find at TJ’s is branded by the store itself. However, some third-party products have made their way through Trader Joe’s rigorous vetting process and been awarded with a spot on the shelves. Enter: Chomps. Everyone’s obsessed with this brand for making meat sticks cool again—and what’s more, we love that each non-GMO, sugar-free stick is all about the low-processed protein without any of the ick. (Otherwise said: fillers, gums, and harmful ingredients.) I love that I can reach for one of these whenever my energy dips or hunger strikes. Slip back the seal and you’re met with 10 grams of protein. I keep them in my car, purse, and next to my desk. Basically, anywhere and everywhere within reach.

Date Syrup

Date Syrup: $3.49

Speaking of products that are exactly and only what they say they are… dates might be my ultimate fave. And while I always pick up a box of Trader Joe’s delish Medjool dates for snacking, I also love this date syrup for topping just about everything. Pancakes, yogurt bowls, oatmeal—yes, everything. Other syrups can be packed with fillers and oils, but every tablespoon of this easy-to-squeeze vessel is pure, unadulterated organic date syrup. There’s not much more to be said.

Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe Vera Juice: $10.99

Don’t be turned off by the price—this is a whole gallon of organic, whole-leaf aloe vera juice for just over $10. And while you might wonder why you need to add aloe to your already abundant hydration routine, the benefits will have you convinced. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties can help boost digestion, stabilize blood sugar, and even improve oral health. This jug will last you a while too, as you want to be mindful to consume in moderation—studies have linked excess consumption to diarrhea and abdominal pain.

Freeze-Dried Blueberries

Freeze-Dried Blueberries: $3.99

As someone who loves her yogurt bowls and oatmeal (see my diatribe above), I’m always looking for ways to work a mix of textures into my go-to breakfasts. I’ve added flaxseed, chia seeds, bananas, and sliced almonds (all from Trader Joe’s, mind you). But now, with the addition of these freeze-dried blueberries, my perfect morning meal is complete. These are crunchy, fruity (of course), and taste exactly like blueberries. The reason being, they’re the only ingredient. No added sugars, no added anything. The five grams of fiber and six grams of protein per serving simply seal the deal.

Riced Cauliflower Bowl

Riced Cauliflower Bowl: $2.99

I couldn’t skip over Trader Joe’s well-known and much-talked-about prepared meals section. This (vegan) Riced Cauliflower Bowl comes with everything you need for a well-balanced and colorful lunch or dinner. Of course, cauliflower serves as the bowl’s base, but marinated chickpeas, sweet potatoes, baked tofu, and roasted onions join in to make it a complete and flavorful meal. But the real kicker? The tahini sauce. As I write this, I’m mentally confirming that this will be today’s lunch. The countdown to deliciousness starts now.

Creamy Cauliflower Jalapeño Dip

Creamy Cauliflower Jalapeño Dip: $3.79

I won’t lie—I’m not much of a dip girl. I can get down with hummus and I love a salsa-soaked summer. Dips, however, often just seem too gloppy and frankly—a bit gross. But because I consider myself an adventurous person (and I didn’t want my dip prejudice to compromise this article’s journalistic integrity), I went for the Creamy Cauliflower Jalapeño Dip. And friends, I was pleasantly shocked.

I’ll get a few disclaimers out of the way. You’ll taste the jalapeño, but this dip doesn’t deliver the pepper’s expected kick. And while I did miss that bit of heat, its lack made it easier to scoop up this dip with reckless abandon. What else helped? The fact that the cauliflower makes this dip both creamy and incredibly light. Whereas other dips might fill you up immediately (I’m looking at you, artichoke), this one satiates and satisfies without any bloat or discomfort. So for all you dip fans out there—myself now included—this is a must-buy.

73% Cacao Dark Chocolate Bar

73% Cacao Dark Chocolate Bar: $1.99

I will NEVER understand those people who say they can have “just a square” of dark chocolate post-meal and be satisfied. I’m a dessert girl, and as such, I need no less than a bowl of ice cream or a cookie in each hand to leave the table. But this dark chocolate bar? I can hang with it. Meaning: a fiber- and protein-packed dark chocolate is my jam, and I’ll reach for this whenever my mind drifts to the land of sweets but I’d rather not deal with the sugar crash. The taste is earthy, a little bit fruity, and deliciously bold. Keep it nearby at all times.

Healthy Trader Joe's products.

Honorable Mentions

I’d be remiss not to say that, among Trader Joe’s exclusive-to-the-store wellness products, there are a few additional healthy staples that I include in my cart on a weekly basis. While you can certainly find these elsewhere, if you’re already hitting up TJ’s, why not drop them in your cart as well? See below for my favorite healthy staples.

  • Frozen fruit. From blueberries to strawberries to mango and pineapple chunks—Trader Joe’s frozen foods section has everything you could ever want to blend up your dream smoothie. If you’re looking to get that additional hit of antioxidants from your brekkie, don’t skip this section.
  • Coconut oil. I surprise even myself with how quickly I can go through a jar of coconut oil. If you’re looking for an affordable cold-pressed option, Trader Joe’s has you covered.
  • Alternative pastas. Brown rice, lentil, and quinoa pasta—oh my! At Trader Joe’s, you’re welcome to dream beyond the expected gluten-laden pasta options.
  • Vitamins. While the packaging might not be as cute as some of the more expensive supplement brands, I’ve been taking Trader Joe’s Vitamin C Complex, Vitamin D, and their Omega-3 Fatty Acids supplements for years and my habits have been met with promising results. Of course, consult a medical professional before beginning any supplement program.
  • Nuts. Last but not least, the nuts. Almonds, cashews, walnuts, and more. The prices are unbeatable, and whether you like your nuts raw, roasted, or salted, there’s an option for you. Pro Tip: I store my nuts in the freezer to keep them from going rancid.

Woman doing makeup

Say sayonara short-term beauty solutions. In 2024, the cosmetic market is expected to shift toward a holistic approach—one that will re-signify the very notion of beauty. Invasive and expensive treatments are taking a backseat. Embracing our aging skin is where it’s at. Rather than fight the lines, we’re celebrating them. In response, the beauty industry is listening. They’re dropping harsh anti-aging treatments in favor of utilizing the body’s natural regenerative systems.

Skin Longevity

Longevity is the name of the game in 2024. Thanks to longevity research, many of us are starting to re-think the span of our lives. In fact, the global longevity market is projected to reach $183 billion by 2028! With the right daily habits, we can live longer, feel better, and look younger. Rather than an immediate fix, we want long-term resources. This year, we’ll be buying products that utilize revolutionary science, regenerative medicine, and biotechnology. Inspiring and innovative ingredients are at our fingertips.

Minimal Makeup with a Splash of Color

We’ll continue to favor minimal makeup in 2024, but vibrant splashes aren’t disappearing. A single pop of color is all you need to make a statement (a dash of color on the eyes or lips). Experts predict we’ll be topping off our barely-there foundation with vibrant eyeliner or a swipe of lipstick.

Global peppers, buckwheat, and cottage cheese are among the food trends expected to stock the shelves in 2024. Oh, and plenty of plants.

Putting the Plant Back in Plant-Based

We’re putting the veggie back in veggie burgers. In turn, ingredient lists are shrinking (hooray!). In place of complex meat alternatives, walnuts, tempeh, and legumes are here to stay. This includes fancy faux fish, like trumpet mushrooms for scallops. Even plant-based milk alternatives are simplifying. As a whole, an interest in veganism will continue to prosper.

Spicy Sauces and Chili Oils

The trend for global peppers is only getting hotter. You’ll spot more fresh, whole, ground, and pickled peppers at the store. Plus, a new wave of sauces and chili oils are popping up in condiment aisles. Even tajín is expanding to spice up your grocery store sushi, desserts, and more.

Protein

It’s official: gym rats are no longer the only ones prioritizing their protein intake. And with it comes an eating pattern that promotes more not less—more energy, more strength, and more body confidence. On that note, dairy is also re-earning its seat at the table. From butter boards to cottage cheese bowls, we foresee more sustainably-sourced, high-fat dairy options fighting for fridge space.

All About Buckwheat

You probably know it in the form of soba noodles. But buckwheat is a versatile seed with fabulous nutrition stats. Containing protein, carbs and fiber, this gluten-free ingredient will penetrate your favorite food products (like crackers and granola) in 2024.

Treat Yourself

We can thank TikTok for “Little Treat Culture”—a trend we’re fully on board for. With that green light, consider 2024 the year you indulge in little luxuries. Think: an impulse macaron, an enticing adaptogenic beverage, or a weekday morning croissant. Brands are getting in on the trend, too. We’ll see individual serving packages that add joy without breaking the bank.

Well-Rounded Nourishment

Ultimately, we’re shifting away from specific and rigorous diets (like keto) in 2024. Instead, we’ll move toward more well-rounded ones, like eating for blood sugar balance and the Mediterranean diet. After decades of restricting, limiting, and narrowing our food intake, we’re focusing on fueling ourselves for stronger bodies—not depriving ourselves for the sake of smaller ones.

Woman journaling in bed - 2024 wellness trends predictions

If there’s one industry that’s making moves in 2024, it’s women’s health. From next-gen postpartum care to biohacking for females, we’re in for a (much-deserved) treat.

Products for Periods Through Postpartum

Across social media, we’ve seen hormone health take center stage. Think: fertility supps, seed cycling energy bites, and ovulation wearables. As such, food innovators are taking note. You can now shop for innovative prenatal snacks and PCOS-focused protein bars. Energizing menopause bars are available, too. In 2024, expect to see a growing emphasis on postpartum care, including better support in the transition to parenthood.

Biohacking

Biohacking is no longer just for bros. Women are asserting their authority in all things health research and optimization. Think: low-lift, everyday habits that enhance an existing well-being routine. Cold plunging, saunas, and building strength are blurring gender norms. Here’s a mini course on biohacking (specifically for women), if you’re curious to tap in.

Creatine Supplements

Similarly, creatine supplements are no longer marketed toward men. Come 2024, more and more women will be taking creatine to boost their athletic performance, support brain health, and promote youthful skin.

Limiting Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

Yes, ear health is a top priority in 2024. And good news! A slew of sleek wearables, medical innovations, and urban design changes are here to help us out. Expect to see more emphasis on ear health and hearing loss prevention, across the board.

Smart Gear

Inevitably, wearable devices are only getting smarter. In fact, they’re transforming the traditional patient-physician relationship. Smart gear will include everything from tampons to socks, and you’ll be able to share this data directly with their doctor—if you choose. A great example of this? Attune App. With a 60-second face scan (on your phone), it provides daily biomarkers. In 2024, minimizing chronic, avoidable health conditions is getting easier.

Woman stretching

We’ve long known that exercise is fundamental. It strengthens our hearts, builds muscle, and improves our mental health. But it’s also a nourishing way to forge relationships. In 2024, who you move with will be more important than how you move. You read that right. Workout culture is getting an upgrade.

Fitness Clubs > Social Clubs

In 2024 and beyond, we’ll see an upsurge in community-based fitness groups. Organizations will come together to encourage people to reap the benefits of movement, together. Whether your passion is hiking or pickleball, more fitness clubs (with social events) are emerging. In other words, gym owners will start prioritizing workout studios with a deep focus on community and connection.

Functional Fitness

Living to 100 is no longer a lofty goal. We just need to make sure our bodies can keep up. Enter: functional strength and mobility. As such, more people are lifting heavier weights, improving their range of motion, and fostering joint health. We’re embracing more walking, too. Rest is still key, but a sedentary lifestyle isn’t a vibe in 2024.

AI Coaches

In 2024, AI coaches are poised to lead an alternative era of fitness training. These AI-driven coaches will leverage real-time data analysis and personalized recommendations—a level of guidance that’s never been available before. These coaches will be able to identify trends, pinpoint weaknesses, and make continuous adjustments to your fitness levels. Whoa.

Post-Workout Recovery

In 2024, expect a significant expansion in the focus on post-workout recovery. This is great news, as recovery plays a crucial role in achieving optimal fitness results, reducing the risk of injury, and enhancing overall well-being. Look out for new ways to maximize your post-workout sweat, like bathing, ice baths, saunas, and thermotherapy.

Woman drinking tea.

Thankfully, the past several years have seen an uptick in interest across all areas of wellness—our mental health, included. In 2024, expect to see the trend continue, with more resources and opportunities for people to feel well.

Group Therapy

Non-virtual spaces where women can gather and reflect? You betcha. Women’s healing circles are gaining popularity. In 2024—and beyond—this coveted method of wellness will offer participants a safe group space to connect, share, and empower each other. In many ways, the concept of women-only spaces is dear to second-wave feminism. But it’s now coming back in the form of group therapy. Many are available across the globe, including specific retreats for women to discuss certain topics while surrounded by nature.

Wellness Retreats

Speaking of retreats, Ideal magazine foresees 2024 as the year of wellness vacations. For those consumed by the frenzy of modern life (ahem, most of us), we’ll be looking for ways to hit the brakes this year. At the tippy top of the list? Sleep retreats. Given that sleep disorders impact 50-70 million Americans, this is no surprise. There will be an increasing interest toward more natural settings for these sleep retreats, like forests or remote seaside villages. And they’ll offer a series of services— ranging from cognitive treatments to relaxation techniques.

Social Media Detoxing

We live in an age of round-the-clock connectivity. But with mental well-being at the forefront, let’s vow to leave constant notifications in 2023. Come 2024, allow the rise of mindful tech to surface. Look out for coffee shops, wellness spaces, and even work places that offer tech-free zones. In that vein, we foresee more apps that encourage digital breaks. We’ve already started advocating for scheduled periods of device disconnection. This is your gentle nudge to join the party! Digital overload is officially a thing of the past.

The Experts

Bathtub products.

The trends our experts identified are grounded in the larger, shifting embrace of wellness that acknowledges and supports our individual needs. “When it comes to wellness trends,” says Shrankhla Holecek, an Ayurvedic experts and the founder and CEO of UMA Oils, “Ayurveda underscores that it is crucial to acknowledge our individuality […] and honor your intuition. Accordingly, cold plunges may not work for everyone, nor raw foods or extreme cardio sessions.”

With your unique wellness journey in mind, discover the 2024 wellness trends the next year has in store. Plus, our experts share the trends they’re happy to leave behind. Any guesses?

Romanticizing the Simple Things in Life

“This trend has been huge in 2023, by content creators bringing life and energy back to the simple things of the world. From making something simple like cooking dinner, to romanticizing it with candles, music, and a cute apron. I love the enthusiasm of people feeling like they don’t need to fly to Paris in order to feel love for life, they can do it by romanticizing the simple things we do every day.” — Sami Clarke, co-founder of FORM

Less Caffeine, More Greens

“I am currently a slowly recovering caffeine addict. About 6 months ago, I hit a daily habit of drinking 3 coffees and one energy drink a day. This led to extremely interrupted sleep and a dependency on caffeine that definitely wouldn’t be functional for the rest of my life. I’ve recently hopped on the powdered greens train. My energy levels are now more sustained and I’ve found myself less reliant on caffeine.” — Cassie Campbell, [solidcore] Head Coach and pvolve Trainer

Health & Wellness Personalization

“We are seeing even more of our guests at Pressed Juicery and society in general really utilizing technology like connected fitness (i.e. MyFitnessPal), personalization questionnaires, and really great algorithms (i.e. Tiktok) to hypercustomize their own health and wellness autonomy.  I love this because the wellness baseline is increasing in a way that is more specific to someone’s needs.” — Andrei Najjar, SVP of Brand at Pressed Juicery

Woman stretching.

(Select) Supplements

“Despite our best intentions and wellness-focused efforts, a majority of us live pretty stressed lives and juggle multiple priorities. I am a fan of certain Ayurvedic herbs such as ashwagandha, brahmi, or turmeric to extend our bodies’ stress-fighting and cognitive capabilities, and to help us find better mental/emotional balance.” — Shrankhla Holecek, UMA Oils founder and CEO, Ayurvedic Expert

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

“I’ve noticed a real move toward embracing natural, herbal fixes in wellness routines these days. More people are after gentle, holistic options, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is really having a moment because of that. TCM has been practiced for 3,000 years, and its herbal remedies restore the body’s balance and addresses health from a holistic, foundational level.” — Stephanie Tan, founder of NOOCI

At-Home Workouts

“This trend of short, effective, at-home workouts has still proven so worth it since 2021. People have been able to get more comfortable with working out, have saved money and time versus buying a gym membership, and are hitting their goals from home.” — Sami Clarke, co-founder of FORM

Affirmation cards.

Self-Care

“Optimized wellness has become baseline for all of our guests and we are continuing to offer solutions and systems to help them on their wellness journeys. We’re calling 2024 ‘The Year of Self-Care’ and are excited for what we have in store through product, partnerships, and education to deliver on this promise.” — Andrei Najjar, SVP of Brand at Pressed Juicery

Holistic Wellness Programs

“2023 raised our expectations of what a good wellness program looks like. We now crave programs that will not only help us to look good but will also improve our overall strength and the long-term health and sustainability of our bodies. This trend is not going away anytime soon but it does need to be qualified. I hope 2024 will do this.” — Dylan Davies, co-founder of LIFT Society, and Certified Nutritionist

Gut Health

“Maintaining a healthy gut is so important because it affects every organ in our body! Our immune system, mental health, digestion, and mood are all closely linked to gut health—so prioritizing care for your gut microbiome should be at the top of your list.” — Stephanie Tan, founder of NOOCI

Smoothies.

Mind-Body Connection

“The power of mind-body connection is a trend we are tapping into and will continue to lean into in 2024, seeing that being self-aware and emotionally mature is a superpower in this world. It is understanding how your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes can positively or negatively affect your biological functioning, and how the physical state of your body can impact your mental health.” — Sami Clarke, co-founder of FORM

High Intensity, Low Impact Workouts

“My body feels both the strongest and most strain-free when I train with low impact. I’m a tall girl at 5’11” and have always had sensitivity to my joints in general, but my knees specifically. It’s been tough to find a workout that leaves my joints feeling unbothered. I now personally swear by a rotation of [solidcore] and pvolve.” — Cassie Campbell, [solidcore] Head Coach and pvolve Trainer

Facial Acupuncture

“I love anything that is natural. Facial acupuncture helps stimulate collagen production and enhances skin elasticity—plus, it’s a non-invasive way to rejuvenate your skin, without the harsh chemicals. Finding a good, experienced acupuncturist is crucial!”  — Stephanie Tan, founder of NOOCI

Bedding.

Alongside the 2024 wellness trends to look forward to, there are some trends from this past year that our experts are ready to leave behind. What did they decide to put in the past? Read on.

Bed Rotting

“While Ayurveda would embrace what might be the overarching intention behind the trend of ‘bed rotting,’ (i.e., relaxing or dissipating fatigue levels), idling in bed in bed for long periods of time is actually likely to increase kapha (which is heavy, thick, slow) energy and ironically, leads to more fatigue and depressive feelings that you’re likely looking to fight. So, avoid spending long hours in bed under the guise of relaxation, as it can actually increase feelings of fatigue and melancholy, contrary to the desired effect. Combining sedentary activities like eating or watching TV in bed further exacerbates this kapha lethargy. Instead, Ayurveda suggests a balanced approach with mindful activities such as nature walks, breathing meditation, and engaging reads, alongside digital detox and rejuvenating sleep to combat fatigue or burnout.” — Shrankhla Holecek, UMA Oils founder and CEO, Ayurvedic Expert

Melatonin

“People rely too much on melatonin. Instead, we must shift gears and focus on an overall better sleep routine. Think: meditating, ditching caffeine early, leaving your phone out of the bedroom, and sticking to a regular sleep schedule. That’s the real secret sauce for solid shut-eye!” — Stephanie Tan, founder of NOOCI

One-Size-Fits-All Fitness

“2023 was an empowering year for the fitness industry in many ways as it taught us to want more out of our wellness programs. Unfortunately, there is still too much of an emphasis on group think. A good wellness program is not necessarily going to make you look like the latest aesthetic trend but will help you become the best version of your body type. We need to own this more in 2024.” — Dylan Davies, co-founder of LIFT Society, and Certified Nutritionist

Chopping lemons

Complexity

“I think a lot of people have discovered that if it’s too hard to understand, it’s probably a marketing gimmick. We find ourselves returning to simplicity in our ingredients, recipes, visuals, and partners.  For us, if you can’t understand it in 3 seconds, it’s probably too complex. Our success with Simple Cleanse is an example. Whereas most cleanses are hyper-complicated, we introduced a product this year that is a full cleanse in a bottle that tastes great and performs.” — Andrei Najjar, SVP of Brand at Pressed Juicery

Health Tracking

“I have a love-hate relationship with it. Tracking health metrics is fantastic for understanding your body, but doing it daily can amplify stress and extend screen time. Sometimes, it’s refreshing to ditch the metrics and just vibe with our body’s natural flow and rhythms.” — Stephanie Tan, founder of NOOCI

Quick Results

“2023 may have taught us a lot about what we want out of a good wellness program but it didn’t teach us the patience we will need to get there. In 2024, we need to let go of quick fixes to long-term problems and embrace a complete lifestyle change and think about a long-term approach to fitness.” — Dylan Davies, co-founder of LIFT Society, and Certified Nutritionist

Ultimately, it’s important to remember that healthy living doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. 40 Wellness Hacks to Keep You Healthy Through the Holidays

The holidays are a time of so much joy and excitement. Full stop. (Eh, not quite.) Like most things in life, this season comes with its fair share of nuance. “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”—but for many, it’s also the messiest and most stressful couple of months. And we’re lucky if we make it past New Year’s without so much as a sniffle. Needless to say, the holidays can do a number on our health. But to combat the inevitable colds and meltdowns—and offset the indulgences that we will be taking part in—we have our go-to healthy holiday hacks to weave in some wellness when it counts the most.

To be clear: if hours-long workouts and green smoothies on repeat aren’t your jam, they don’t have to be. Alongside our holiday cookie-baking marathons and multiple gatherings each week, we’ll be taking plenty of time to get quiet with ourselves and connect with the rituals that help us feel our best.

Because rather than aiming for perfection, we’ve come around to accepting that life is a journey of continuously falling in and out of balance. The latter doesn’t mean you’ve failed and being on your healthy A-game isn’t a moral success. Instead, these healthy holiday hacks are intended to help you tune back in with yourself and serve as a reminder of all that keeps you aligned during a time year when you may need them most.

Life is a journey of continuously falling in and out of balance.

40 Healthy Holiday Hacks to Support You, Body and Mind

With these ideas at the ready, it’s our hope that you can continue feeling your best this holiday. Sure, maybe you aren’t eating the “healthiest” or keeping up with your pre-November workout routine. But you’re prioritizing what’s most important this holiday season. And here’s a friendly reminder: that looks different for everyone.

Movement Holiday Habits

1. Embrace the beauty of a 10-minute workout. Platforms like Form, barre3, and Soul Sync Body all offer quick workouts. It’s an easy way to build momentum and set the foundation for a day of movement.

2. Walk with others. During a time of year full of family and friends, this is one of our favorite healthy holiday hacks. Recruit someone to get a little fresh air together—just be sure to leave your phone at home.

3. Stretch before bed. Better yet, make a routine of it! It’s a simple way to transition from the busyness of your day and wind down for sleep. Camille even swears by it.

4. Play football on Thanksgiving. It’s tradition, after all. But if football isn’t a thing for your family, you can also arrange a pick-up game of soccer, pickleball, or whatever other sport you love.

5. Enjoy the snow. Sure, this healthy holiday hack may not apply to everyone. But if you’re lucky enough to have a winter wonderland outside, make the most of it! We’re imaging snowball fights, forts, snowmen…

6. Go ice skating. Outside or at your local rink. You don’t even have to know how to hockey stop—it’s easy to work up a sweat regardless.

7. Schedule a family hike. That “hike” can mean miles uphill or a small jaunt in your local park. Whatever the terrain, it’s a fun way to connect with family while they’re in town.

8. Sneak in a morning workout. Raise of hands if you’re waking up with tight hips and achy joints thanks to all the holiday activity. There’s no better way to come back into alignment than with a juicy yoga flow. We’re partial to these (free!) workouts.

9. Sign up for a holiday fun run. Operative word: fun. Turkey Trots and holiday races tend to be a low-key affair. And the best part? The finish line usually comes with a side of hot cocoa.

10. Walk to see the holiday lights. Skip the car ride this year and venture out (in the proper attire, of course). This is one of the most magical activities—and a favorite healthy holiday hack, too.

Nutrition Holiday Habits

11. Make salads fun again. There was a time when salads took a back seat to the creamier, richer dishes. But thankfully, our taste buds have seen the light—and salads are a holiday star. At your next gathering, consider serving this squash & farro salad, a roasted honeynut squash salad, or Camille’s holiday jewels kale salad. Better yet, opt for all three.

12. Drink your greens. Of all the healthy holiday hacks, this might be the easiest. (Not to mention, gives you the most bang for your buck.) We’re all fans of AG1, but other faves include Equilibria, Thorne, and Amazing Grass.

13. Sip on bone broth. It’s a tasty way to warm up and boost your gut health. Legit: it’s liquid gold.

14. Make a few nutrient-dense swaps. Sometimes, only sour cream will satisfy. But when you want to pack in protein and get a healthy dose of vitamins and antioxidants, make some of these nutritionist-approved ingredient swaps.

15. Drink a ton of water. We know you know: it’s important for everything from hydrating your skin to balancing electrolytes to maintaining proper digestion. Make things a little more interesting with lemon or cucumber slices. We’re also fans of the Apothékary lineup of functional tinctures that taste amazing.

16. Go zero-proof. If you like to toast to the holidays with a glass of bubbly but don’t love the ensuing hangover, swap in non-alcoholic bevvies that taste like the real-deal—and oftentimes, better. These are our faves.

17. Enjoy sleepy-time foods. The holidays can wreak havoc on our sleep. Give yourself a helping hand with tryptophan-rich foods that encourage a restful snooze. (Hint: It’s not just turkey!)

18. Simplify your supplements. Thankfully, brands know what we need—and that’s super-packed supplements that don’t mean opening a million bottles. We’re loving Grüns daily gummy packs, which are backed by science to support everything from gut health to immunity to brain function.

19. Eat slowly. And mindfully. With so many delicious dishes and recipes to enjoy throughout the holidays, it’s important to slow down not just for digestion and satiety’s sake, but for the simple pleasure of reveling in good flavors and food.

20. Take digestive bitters. To further support digestion, bitters can help release gastric juice and stimulate saliva production, helping your body break down food more effectively. Be sure to consult your health provider before incorporating bitters into your routine.

Mindfulness Holiday Habits

21. Decorate with nature. Branches are one of our favorite ways to bring the outdoors inside. Get an expert’s tips on incorporating them into your home decor.

22. Embrace your morning routine. It’s the start of every productive day. Let these morning routine ideas inspire your own.

23. Journal your thoughts. It’s a powerful way to connect with yourself and take stock of where you are, mentally and emotionally. Particularly during a busy time of year, this can be key. Start your practice today.

24. Romanticize your coffee. (Or tea!) Whatever warm beverage you choose, pick your favorite mug, light a candle, and enjoy the cozy warmth.

25. Read the best holiday books. ‘Tis the season to get cozy with a good read. These new releases are currently on our TBR.

26. Practice breathwork. It doesn’t have to be intimidating. These three breathing exercises can help you find calm, stat.

27. Prioritize rest. Yes, even—perhaps especially—during the holidays, rest should be an essential part of your wellness routine. We tapped Ashley Neese, author of Permission to Rest, to share how it’s done.

28. Enjoy mood lighting. As the viral TikTok goes: in this house, we never use the big light. Enjoy a little glow with candles, twinkly lights, and the ambiance of the Christmas tree.

29. Practice affirmations. It’s easy to write them off, but practicing positive affirmations is a powerful way to shift your mindset and embrace your best self.

30. Share your gratitudes. You can journal about them, but why not share with loved ones and all of those who make your world a more beautiful and inspiring place just how much they mean to you? It makes all the difference.

Connection Holiday Habits

31. Cultivate intentional mornings. With your kids, your partner, your pets, and yourself. Embrace a little quiet before the chaos of the day begins.

32. Call your loved ones. The best time is now.

33. Send holiday notes. PSA: This doesn’t have to be a huge holiday to-do. Instead, identify a few people you’d like to reach out to with a written note. Share your love and pop it in the mail.

34. Experiment with intimacy oils. Call it a stocking stuffer gift for yourself. Enjoy the best lubricants with a partner or explore a world of pleasure all on your own.

35. Create no-phone zones. Designate certain areas of the house or even days during your holiday vacation where your phones are left off and stored in another room. Far away from the festitivites.

36. Invite someone who may be spending the holiday alone. If you know a friend or co-worker can’t be with their own family this year, have them over for dinner. It may just make their holiday.

37. Go caroling. Whether you do it with a church or a community organization in your area, caroling is a great way to get festive and embrace the seasonal spirit.

38. Host a holiday baking day. Invite friends and neighbors to get messy in the kitchen. It’s a fun opportunity to swap traditional family recipes.

39. Share stockings with neighbors. Fill them with homemade goods and small local gifts. Just because is a good enough reason.

40. Volunteer with family or friends. After all, the holidays are brightest when we make them a little brighter for others.

My Ultimate Wellness Playbook: 20 Daily Habits That Keep Me High-Vibe and Energized

I’ve always loved the clean-slate vibes of September. This time of year inspires a return to the healthy habits and daily routines that keep me feeling my best. After a summer of travel, late nights, and ice cream dates, I feel the pull to reign it in and get back to my feel-good rituals. To be clear, it’s not about perfection and I will certainly be eating ice cream this month. But I love the “tiny daily habits” approach that helps me discover those micro things that I can bake into my days to spark joy and help me feel vibrant and energized.

To welcome the new season with our partner Haven Well Within, I’m sharing my ultimate list of wellness habits that I always return to because they make me feel good. With soft fabrics, cozy fits, and flattering shapes (not to mention all the wellness and beauty goodies your fall could ever need), Haven Well Within is my go-to for effortless, elegant style—both in my wardrobe and all throughout my home.

Read on for all the wellness habits I’m prioritizing in my daily routine this fall. It’s a long list, and my hope is that you’ll find a few of these that speak to you, inspiring you to nourish your body and soul this fall.

Wake Up With the Sun

PSA: The healthy habits that ensure a good night’s sleep begin right when you wake up. When we prioritize getting natural light first thing, we’re better able to kickstart our body’s sleep-wake cycle. What’s more, waking up with the sun supports a balanced circadian rhythm. As a result, not only is it easier to fall asleep at night, but we wake up feeling refreshed, restored, and ready to take on the day.

I won’t pretend like I’m not tempted to check my phone first thing. If you’re getting more blue light than sunlight in the morning, charge your phone at night outside of the bedroom. And if you rely on your phone as your wake-up call, invest in a sunrise alarm clock like the Hatch Restore 2. Browse other editor-approved alarm clocks that’ll help you kick your smartphone habit.

Drink My Greens in the AM

I’m sure you can relate: I’m a first-thing-in-the-morning coffee girl. My daily routine isn’t complete without it. (And I love pairing a hot cuppa with my morning journaling sesh.) But as cozy as the habit is, I’ve learned that I feel more depleted than energized if I’m not hydrating beforehand. And though water is my go-to elixir of life, I love supercharging my hydration with an extra dose of vitamins and minerals first thing. Enter: AG1.

While I’ve let other wellness trends come and go, my obsession with Athletic Greens is forever. I love mixing up my daily dose of greens and sipping on them while I help my kids get ready for school. It’s an easy, simple way to support gut and immune health, healthy aging, and focused, sustained energy throughout the day. And yes, it tastes delicious.

Use My Tongue Scraper

Disgusting, but true: our tongue is a breeding ground for bacteria. While brushing and flossing my teeth is an obvious habit in my daily routine, I’ve added tongue scraping over the years to promote detoxification. Here’s how it works: all throughout the day—but particularly while we sleep—a white or yellowish film develops on the surface of the tongue. As Dr. Martinna Bertolini, an assistant professor of dental medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, shared with The New York Times, this is “the result of buildup from food debris, dead skin cells and bacteria.”

TMI, but true. To combat this, I swipe my tongue scraper back to front along the surface of my tongue. While I prioritize it in the morning, doing so twice a day (in the AM and PM) is ideal for best results.

Track My Cycle

While I used to see my time of the month as an ugh-inducing episode filled with mood swings, cravings, and cramps, I’ve since gained a new perspective and tapped into the practice of cycle syncing. Cycle syncing involves shifting your diet, workouts, work habits, skincare, and even socializing based on the phase of your cycle you currently find yourself in. With our cycles come natural fluctuations in our hormones, and as such, we may find ourselves more energized, irritable, sensitive, etc. at different times throughout the month.

I’ve found that by tracking my cycle and tailoring my habits to the phase I’m currently in, I experience a better sense of balance, productivity, and inner peace all throughout the month.

Meditation, Breathwork, and Prayer

You guys know I love my morning routine and it always starts with a few minutes of mindfulness. This may include some deep breathing, guided meditation, and always a moment for prayer. It’s important for me to start the day in a slower-paced, low cortisol state, and I’ve learned to prioritize this time before getting sucked into emails or the other demands of the day.

While this looks different for everyone, identify what brings you a little peace, quiet, and stillness at the start of your day. You’ll find that by taking just a little time to connect with your inner self, you’re able to move throughout the day with more clarity and even compassion.

Visualize Your Highest Self

While we may feel like our dream life is miles down the road, living it can be as simple as identifying the characteristics of your best self and following suit. I like to practice this in the morning—perhaps while I journal—by visualizing how my best self will show up that day. What does her daily routine look like today? What healthy habits will she practice? How can she feel supported and more vibrant in everything she does? Visualize the details of her life and then be her. Sure, it’s easier said than done, but I’ve found that making significant change in my life can often be as simple as identifying the path to growth and following suit.

Walk With My Husband Every Morning

My workout regimen has changed so much through the years, and as I get older it definitely becomes more about how it makes me feel than anything to do with weight or appearance. I’ve also embraced more low-impact and gentle forms of movement like walking, yoga, stretching, and pilates.

One of my favorite parts of my daily routine is my morning walk with Adam. We’re not going for speed and the goal isn’t to break a sweat. Instead, we use this time to check in with one another before jumping into the busyness of our days. I find it’s a great opportunity to move my body while feeling connected with my partner. And because both of our schedules are so go-go-go, I’m happy to set aside that time to hear what he has going on that day and to feel heard by him as well.

Listen to a Podcast While I Get Ready

I’ve always been a reader. I love cozying up with a book and being able to dive deep into a plot or learn something new. And though I still prioritize that time, I’ve found that during my fast-paced days, I love listening to podcasts while getting dressed and moving throughout my daily routine. I’m always met with new information, fascinating conversations, and inspiration to take into my day. Some of my favorite podcasts include:

Drink Water All Day

Every morning, I fill a pitcher or large water bottle with filtered water, then stir in one packet of LMNT electrolytes and one packet of Sunfiber. I stir it up, add ice, and sip on it all day. It’s tastier and more hydrating than plain water, and I find that I drink so much water this way.

Play Music That Calms My Cortisol

While I love an energizing playlist for exercise, throughout the workday, my daily routine benefits from grounding and ambient music. I find that I’m able to focus better and that my attention wanders less when I listen to music without lyrics. Lately, I’ve been tuning into Spotify’s Lofi Morning playlist.

Eat Veggies at Every Meal

It’s a life adage that we’ve heard ever since we were kids—and guess what, your parents were right. Eating the rainbow is key to feeling our best, and when I haven’t had a veggie in a day or two, trust me: I can feel it. Here are a few ways I ensure I get my veggies in at every meal.

Breakfast: I love eggs with some avocado on the side or scrambled with peppers and salsa to top. Or, if I’m in a hurry, this green smoothie packs in all the good stuff with a healthy serving of spinach and cauliflower. (But trust me, going on taste alone, you’ll never know.)

Lunch: This is when a salad comes in clutch. I love pairing a big green salad with a truly addicting dressing (this is my fave). Of course, to make it satiating, I’ll add whatever protein I have prepped in the fridge. Sometimes, this is leftover chicken or salmon from the previous night’s dinner, or I’ll hard-boil a couple of eggs to top my greens.

Dinner: Though I’ve dialed in my breakfast and lunch routines, dinner is when I like to switch it up. As I shared in my recent ‘What I Eat in a Day,’ we try to prioritize family meals several nights a week. Whatever the main dish is that evening, I’ll try to incorporate riced cauliflower as a base, a side salad, or my favorite roasted veggies to make sure I’ve met my veggie quota for the day. (Drizzling a sauce on top never hurts!)

Walk On My Treadmill Desk During Calls

Lately, I’ve been jumping on my treadmill desk during Zoom calls for a ‘walk and talk.’ Overall, I feel more energized and balanced at the end of a marathon day. If you’ve been on the fence about getting the under-desk walking pad, let me confirm: take the plunge. It’s an easy way to work movement into my daily routine.

For Every 45 Minutes of Work, Take a 5-Minute Break

Before I dive into this habit of my daily routine, let me emphasize: it’s still a work in progress. Like many of us, I can get totally wrapped up in a task and before I know it, two hours have gone by without my standing up from my desk. But to combat the mental fog, exhaustion, and creative drain that comes with not taking a break, I’m trying to be more consistent with my time away from the screen. An easy way to make this a habit is to set a timer so that for every 45 minutes I’m working, I step up to take a stroll around the house, make a cup of tea, or simply stretch away from my desk. It’s just a few minutes, but you’ll find that you come back to the task at hand feeling refreshed and ready to dive back in.

Be Mindful of Alcohol

I love to sip a glass of wine, but definitely notice its effect on my sleep and energy levels. Lately, I reserve wine for the weekends so I’m actively choosing the occasional drink, and throughout the week lean into kombucha, mocktails, and tea. If you still want to sip on something fun and bubbly after the workday, I love these zero-proof drinks.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is everywhere these days—but trust me, it’s more than a trend. It’s a type of gentle massage that supports the drainage of lymph nodes and fluids around the body. In practice, this looks like everything from dry brushing to foam rolling to gua sha and making it a habit of walking after meals. By prioritizing these habits in my daily routine, I’ve noticed that I feel much less puffy and have experienced reduced swelling in my face, abdomen, and legs. If you haven’t yet hopped on the hype train, now’s the time.

“Everything” Shower or Bath to Relax

My day is almost always capped off with a luxurious bath or shower that feels like a treat to myself—and a transition from the busyness of the day into a slower, gentler time before sleep. Indulge in a few high-quality products (a loofah or bath sponge, body oil, wash, and shower steamer) that’ll lend your soak time a relaxing, hotel feel. Think of it as a time where you can enjoy the moment, completely undisturbed. You’re not just cleaning your body and hair—you’re cleansing your entire mind.

Stretch Before I Get In Bed

A simple couple of minutes dedicated to running through an easy stretch routine not only keeps me flexible but helps me wind down before I get into bed. And before you worry that you have to be a yogi to implement this habit into your daily routine, take heart: the simpler you make it, the better. I like to reach for my toes, do downward dog, cat/cow, and relax in child’s pose for a few moments. Every stretch feels so juicy and good, you’ll find that you look forward to it every evening.

Put Away My Phone at 8 PM

I know, I know: this one is hard. For many of us (myself included), our phones are an extension of who we are. It’s our main mode of communication, our calendar, and our connection to all the work and personal tasks that need to be accomplished throughout the day. But when the clock strikes 8 p.m., I’ve become disciplined about either putting my phone on ‘Do Not Disturb’ or turning it off completely—and setting it to charge in a separate room for the night.

This helps me physically and mentally disconnect from all the tasks and to-do’s of my day and makes it much less tempting to respond to just… one… more… email before hitting the hay. (Which, if I’m being honest, inevitably sets my bedtime back way further than I’d like.) If you find this difficult, try replacing the habit of checking your phone with something just as gratifying. Be it an evening bath, quality time with your book, or an uninterrupted binge of your go-to show, know this: there’s life beyond your phone.

And if you’d like to extend this healthy daily routine on the weekend, I even like doing a bigger social media detox on Saturdays and Sundays. More tuning in, less zoning out.

Evening Journaling

While I’ve always been a morning journal writer, it wasn’t until a few years ago that I saw the power and benefit of nighttime journaling as well. If you ever get into bed and your head hits the pillow with a million thoughts mulling about, journaling is a great way to externalize these thoughts, feelings, and emotions and make it so they don’t keep up all night. Personally, I find evening journaling is one of the best ways to release nighttime anxiety and fall asleep with a greater sense of mental calm.

I practice this by jotting down a few things from my day—reflecting on wins, challenges, or anything notable. By doing so, I’m also able to get organized for the day ahead. Journaling provides me with the clarity to better see what I’d like to get done and helps me move the needle forward.

7-8 Hours of Sleep

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a bit sleep-obsessed, and that’s because I believe it is the true foundation of good health and vibrancy. As someone who’s experienced insomnia in the past, I know the challenge of trying to function and running a business on little sleep. If I don’t get enough sleep, I’m more likely to be tired and irritable—in other words, not my best self. While the number varies for everyone, I personally need 7-8 hours to feel good.

To promote restful sleep, I’m adamant about incorporating all of the healthy habits above into my daily routine. I find that it’s all interwoven, and by viewing these practices as non-negotiables, I’m able to function optimally and feel my best. All day, every day.

This Buzzy Wellness Drink is Trending—a Health Coach Shares Why It’s Actually Worth the Hype

Matcha, mushrooms, and dark leafy greens all prove that there’s no shortage of functional food options to pile on our plates. In the same vein, just as we’re getting ready to reach for our PSL, the lemon water movement still holds strong. And when it comes to the Ayurvedic practice, we’re proponents incorporating a citrus-spiked mug into our morning routines. Why? Because drinking lemon water in the morning comes with plenty of health-boosting benefits.

It’s said to promote digestion, flush out toxins, and be the ultimate gut detox. Many of the wellness elite claim to start every morning sipping the elixir and reaping the benefits day in and day out. But is lemon water really as good for you as it sounds and do its magical, purported benefits hold up? Is this holy grail of health really worth the hype?

The Benefits of Lemon Water in the Morning

I’m personally a huge lemon water fan! Above all, when we infuse water with anything that we enjoy—lemon, mint, cucumber, berries, etc.—we tend to be enticed to drink more of it. While, yes, lemon juice specifically does provide some health benefits, I think simply drinking MORE water is the biggest health benefit of adding lemon water into your daily wellness routine.

To get more specific, though, lemon juice contains a healthy dose of vitamin C (1/6 of your daily recommended amount in 1/2 lemon). The benefits of vitamin C include:

  • Supports our immune system.
  • Provides antioxidants that protect cells against free-radical damage.
  • Necessary for collagen production, iron absorption, and wound healing.

Likewise, the citric acid found in lemon juice can aid in digestion as it has been shown to boost gastric acid secretion, a digestive fluid that allows you to break down and digest food in the stomach. Just be careful as TOO much lemon might trigger acid reflux.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say that lemon water is a weight loss or metabolism cure, but it certainly can be a part of the larger picture. Making small tweaks to your routine like swapping a sugary soda or juice with lemon water could indeed help weight loss. Yet it’s more about choosing this healthier alternative than the lemon water itself.

How to Make Lemon Water a Part of Your Morning Routine

I recommend drinking lemon water on an empty stomach first thing in the morning as a reminder to hydrate before coffee (a common habit for many of us!). Plus, it can also be a wonderful way to wake up your digestive system.

If you’re looking for digestive benefits, I recommend enjoying lemon water before meals as the boost in gastric acid will help you more efficiently digest your food. But overall, anytime you remember to drink water is a good thing!

[Lemon water is] thought to help kickstart your digestive system which can be sluggish in the morning for many people. I likewise think it’s become popular in the morning as a way to hydrate and replenish first thing (especially before coffee or other dehydrating, caffeinated drinks).

Do you drink lemon water? If so, what benefits have you noticed?

I love my “morning drink” which consists of warm water, lemon juice, a splash of apple cider vinegar, and cayenne pepper. This might be a bit intense for some people, so I’d recommend starting with just lemon water, adding some honey to the concoction or swapping cayenne with cinnamon. These additions add to the digestion-boosting benefits of lemon water.

I’ve personally found this drink helps when my digestion is sluggish, and it makes me mindful of hydrating more throughout the day when I make it a priority first thing in the morning.
